Nelson has a passion for helping individuals connect their deeply held values with their investments, charitable giving, and every day economic decisions. Nelson graduated with a B.A. in Religion from Princeton in 2005. In addition to a Master of Divinity from Union Presbyterian Seminary and a Master of Theology from Princeton Theological Seminary, Nelson earned his doctorate in Religious Studies from the University of Virginia in 2017, with a focus on Christian ethics in regards to economics, human flourishing and ecology. He is also a Chartered SRI Counselor (CSRIC®) and a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®). An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), Nelson has been actively involved with a number of community organizations including RVA Rapid Transit, Shalom Farms, Maggie Walker Community Land Trust, Virginia Community Voice, Thriving Cities Group, Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, STEP Richmond, Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, and Grace Covenant Child Development Center. He resides in Richmond with his two sons, Eason and Asher.
